Why a thread lift, and why now?
There is a stage of facial ageing where the skin has begun to descend — the cheeks drop, jowls form, the jawline blurs — but a surgical facelift feels like too much, too soon. This is the gap a thread lift fills.
Dissolvable threads, most commonly made of PDO (a material used safely in surgery for years), are placed under the skin to reposition sagging tissue upward. Beyond the immediate mechanical lift, the threads trigger a natural healing response that stimulates fresh collagen along their path, so the skin continues to firm even after the threads themselves have dissolved.
It is important to be realistic: a thread lift is not a replacement for a surgical facelift and works best for mild to moderate sagging. Dr. Kanchan will tell you honestly whether you are a good candidate or whether another approach would serve you better.
Where a thread lift helps.
Mid-Face & Cheeks
Lifting descended cheek tissue to restore a more youthful, triangular facial shape and soften the folds around the mouth.
Jawline & Jowls
Redefining a blurred jawline and lifting early jowls for a cleaner lower-face contour.
Brow Lift
A subtle lift of heavy or drooping brows that can open up the eyes and freshen the upper face.
Collagen Stimulation
Even where lift is modest, the threads improve skin firmness and texture over the following months through new collagen.
How treatment works.
After a consultation and assessment of your degree of sagging, the skin is cleansed and numbed with local anaesthetic for comfort. The procedure usually takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas.
The threads are placed through tiny entry points, positioned and gently drawn to lift the tissue. You will see an immediate lift once the threads are set. Because it is minimally invasive, there are no large incisions and no general anaesthetic.
What to expect afterwards.
Mild soreness, swelling, and occasional bruising are normal for a few days, and you may feel slight tightness or pulling as the area settles. Most people take only a few days of social downtime.
You will be asked to avoid vigorous facial movements, sleeping on your face, and strenuous exercise for a short period so the threads settle. The immediate lift is followed by gradual, collagen-driven improvement over two to three months, with results typically lasting 12 to 18 months before a top-up is considered.
